FAQ

Can you help with this?

Probably yes. Here are the questions I get most often, grouped by what you're trying to do. If your question isn't here, ask anyway — the answer is almost always either "yes, here's how" or "no, but I know who to send you to."

Fixing things that broke

My [thing] stopped working.

If something used to work and now it doesn't, this is the most common kind of ticket I get.

Can you fix my Microsoft Access database?

Usually yes. Access is old but it isn't dead — plenty of small businesses still run on it. I can fix broken queries, busted forms, reports that won't open, and tables that have gotten tangled. I can also tell you honestly if it's time to migrate to something more modern (often it is), and quote that separately.

My Zapier zap stopped working — can you figure out why?

Yes. Most failed zaps come down to one of three things: an authentication that expired, an upstream tool that changed its data format, or a step that's hitting a rate limit. I can usually diagnose and fix in under an hour. This is a one-ticket job on Forward Support.

My contact form stopped sending emails. Can you fix that?

Yes. Common culprits: SMTP credentials expired, the form plugin updated and broke something, or your domain's email authentication (SPF/DKIM) is out of date. Fixable in a single ticket.

My Airtable formula isn't working. Can you take a look?

Yes — formula debugging is one of the most common things I do. Send me the base and tell me what you're trying to get the formula to do. Usually fixable in 15 minutes.

My WordPress site is showing errors. Can you fix it?

Depends on the error. For specific bugs — a broken form, a plugin conflict, a layout that broke after an update — yes. For ongoing maintenance of a heavy WordPress site with 30+ plugins, I'm not your best option (and I'll tell you who is). I'll be honest after I take one look.

Connecting things that don't talk

I need [tool A] to send to [tool B].

Integration work is half of what I do. If two of your tools should be talking and aren't, there's almost always a way.

Can you connect my job board to my website and CRM?

Yes — this is a typical Forward Flow build. Most job boards have an API or a Zapier integration; the question is what your CRM expects on the other end. If it's a 30-minute connection, it's a ticket. If it's a multi-step automation with custom data mapping, it's a small fixed-price build.

Can you make a TypeForm submission create a custom webpage for the user who submitted?

Yes — this is exactly the kind of build I did for Neat and Nimble. TypeForm → Airtable → page generator → published URL. Usually a $500–$1,000 Forward Flow build depending on the page complexity.

Can you make it so when I get an email, a Google Calendar event is automatically created?

Yes. This is a classic Zapier or Make automation — about an hour of work to set up and test. One ticket on Forward Support, or a tiny one-off Forward Flow if you're not a member.

Can you connect my Airtable to my WordPress site?

Yes — and there are several ways to do it depending on what you want the site to show. We can pipe data through an API, use a plugin like AirPress, or build a Stacker front-end if it's a customer-facing app. I'll recommend the right approach after a short call.

Can you connect Stripe (or Square, or PayPal) to my CRM?

Yes. Payments-to-CRM is one of the most common integrations I build. Stripe is the easiest. Square and PayPal both work but have quirks. Quote depends on which CRM and how much data you want passed.

Building something new

I want to build [a thing].

Whether it's a starter website or a custom system that replaces three tools, I quote a fixed price before any work starts.

Can you build me a super simple website?

Yes — that's a Forward Site Starter, from $750. A clean 3-to-5 page site on a custom domain, mobile-friendly, easy for you to update. Usually delivered in two to three weeks.

Can you build me a proof of concept for my business idea?

Yes — that's a Forward Proof, from $500. The goal is to show what's possible before you commit to building the real version. Recent example: Josie Meyers needed a working prototype of her Airtable + Stacker concept before deciding whether to invest in the full build. We did it in about a week.

Can you build me an inventory tracking system?

Yes. For most small businesses, an Airtable-based inventory system runs $1,000–$2,500 depending on complexity. I built one for Quality Drywall that tracks materials across active jobs — included setup, forms, views, and a one-hour training. See Forward Data.

Can you build me a CRM in Airtable?

Yes — and I'd usually recommend it before recommending you buy HubSpot or similar. For a one-to-twenty-person business, a custom Airtable CRM costs less, fits your exact workflow, and doesn't lock you into per-seat pricing. Typical build: $1,500–$3,000.

Can you build me a system to manage onboarding, client messages, and inspections?

Yes — that's the kind of multi-function system I built for BBIM / Stay Inn the Heartland. It's a Complex System (from $5,000) because there are multiple workflows that need to talk to each other. See Complex Systems or read the case study.

Small stuff

I just need a quick [thing].

A lot of what I do is small. Forward Support exists for exactly this reason — pay a monthly fee, text me when you need something.

Can you write a formula for my Google Sheet (or Excel)?

Yes. Almost always one ticket on Forward Support. If you're not a member yet, I can do it as a one-off, but if you find yourself needing formula help more than once a quarter, the membership pays for itself.

Can you make a quick change on my Squarespace site?

Yes, even though Squarespace isn't my main platform. Most "quick changes" are quick regardless of platform — copy edits, image swaps, color tweaks, adding a section, fixing a broken link. One ticket.

Can you keep my WordPress plugins, themes, and core updated?

Yes — this is a great fit for Priority-tier Forward Support. I'll check your site monthly, apply updates, and flag anything that broke. Note: this is different from "manage" a heavy plugin-laden WordPress site. I do updates and tune-ups, not deep custom plugin development.

Can you help me figure out which tool to use for [problem]?

Yes — and honestly, this is one of the most valuable things I do. Before you spend $400/mo on software, it's worth a 30-minute call to make sure you're buying the right thing. Often the answer is "you don't need to buy anything new; the tool you already have can do this."

Can you train me or my team on a tool we already pay for?

Yes — Airtable, Stacker, Zapier, WordPress, basic WooCommerce. A one-hour training is one ticket. A multi-session training program is a small fixed-price build.

About working together

How does this actually work?

Do I have to be a Forward Support member to hire you?

No. Most of my clients start with a one-off build (a website, a small system, a proof of concept) and decide later whether they want ongoing support. Some never sign up for Support and that's fine. The membership is for people who want a person on call, not a gate.

Do you work with clients outside Missouri or Tennessee?

Yes — most of my work is remote. I'm based in Hermann, Missouri through July 2026, then moving south of Nashville. Either way, the work doesn't depend on geography.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. Send me yours or ask for mine.

How long does a typical project take?

A Forward Support ticket: under an hour, usually within a business day or two depending on your plan. A Simple Build: two to four weeks. A Complex System: four to twelve weeks, depending on scope.

What if I don't know what I need?

That's the most common starting point. Book a free 15-minute call from the start page and describe what you're trying to do. I'll tell you whether it's a ticket, a build, a system, or "you don't need to hire me for this, here's what to do yourself."

What if my question isn't on this page?

Ask anyway. I add to this page over time based on what people actually ask. Send me your question — I'll get back to you within one business day either way.

Didn't find your question?

Send it. If it's something I can help with, I'll tell you how. If it isn't, I'll point you somewhere that can.
